Running on LPG is a great prop-osition

Theatrical and wedding props business, Vowed & Amazed, has ‘tied the knot’ with autogas LPG in order to dramatically cut its fuel costs while also reducing its impact on the environment.

The business based between High Wycombe and Beaconsfield has customers all across southern England and stretching up to the Midlands.

So having a van – an LPG converted 2005 Ford Transit Connect – that typically costs 40 per cent less to fill up at the pump compared to petrol, is proving to be a match made in heaven!

Stuart Thorn, an expert in theatre carpentry who now runs Vowed & Amazed with his wife Caroline Breen Thorn, explained that due to increased business the firm needed an extra van earlier in the year.

So as he’d already heard about how much cheaper autogas LPG was compared to petrol or diesel, then an already converted model was right at the top of the shopping list.

“I do most of the driving for the business, so having a van that drives the same as the equivalent petrol or diesel version was very important, especially when I typically cover 14,000 miles a year for work.

“Our LPG converted Transit is just the job and you can’t notice any difference in performance when it switches from petrol to autogas LPG. However, the big difference you do notice is when you visit the forecourt and fill up thanks to it being so much cheaper,” explained Stuart.

Being able to keep running costs down also means they can pass on the savings to their various clients, including the newlyweds who are celebrating their special day with one of their illuminated signs – typically love hearts and letters – or other bespoke props.

Paul Oxford, business development manager, Autogas Limited, said: “Stuart’s hit the nail on the head when he points out the very appealing cost saving aspect of autogas LPG.

“Whether you’re a car driving private motorist, small to medium size business with a van, or even a larger concern, then autogas LPG offers significant savings at the forecourt.

“The added bonus is that it’s much cleaner than either petrol or diesel, producing less CO2 emissions, fewer oxides of nitrogen and also less small particle emissions than diesel.”
