Where does the LPG tank go and how big is it?
Fred, Margate

"It depends on your car – most cars can carry a ‘doughnut’ tank in the spare wheel well so your boot space won’t be compromised. For example, in the Ford Focus 1.6 Ecoboost, we have put a 51 litre tank in the spare wheel well as, with most modern cars, there was no wheel in here anyway! We just carry the kit provided in case of puncture repairs. If you don’t have a spare wheel well at all, a cylinder tank can be fitted."

How much does it cost to convert my car?
Cathy, York

"In general for a four-cylinder engine car you can expect to pay between £1,200 – £1,600, but it’s difficult to say without knowing what car you have. If you fill in our enquiry form, we can put you in touch with your nearest Autogas Approved Converter and they can give you a proper quote."

I drive a diesel – can I convert it to run on Autogas?
Sheila, Leicester

"Unfortunately not quite yet – there is research being done into running a diesel car on Autogas similar to how you would convert your petrol car, but there isn’t anything available yet. When there is, we will be sure to bring you the news first!"
